Col Du Tourmalet
Col Du Tourmalet tells the fictional tale of Team Peloton on their steep ascent into the Pyrenees; one of the most challenging mountain stages of the Tour De France. Team Peloton is comprised of all members of Seattle label Peloton Musique. Each sketched out sonic ideas, then circulated them through consecutive round robins to build upon each others sounds in model of the Peloton.
Nora Posch leads with the electro-tinged The Distance Mountain ; analog white noise winds swirl as the 808 acid bassline kicks the team into gear as we ascend the mountain valley.
Phaedrus, one of Seattles forefront techno producers imagines every kick and bass hit to represent the pedals and feet of the cyclist; in perfect rhythmic harmony all other senses are muted and a perceived Sonic View is heard.
Shane Silkeys techno thriller EPO gets into the heart of the blood doping scandal that aids in our cathartic surge from the switchbacks; the mind quiet, body fully engaged, there is warmth in that tension.
Portlands Centrikal, newest member to Team Peloton helps us Breakaway from the pack with this prime time techno house stormer as it builds and releases the friction and tension of our competitive spirit.
At the summit of the Col Du Tourmalet lies Statue of the Giant, an epic landmark to welcome riders;. Ghola Sounds playful meditations in bass and melody lift our spirits as we crest the top.
